At the heart of your COCPA’s involvement in local, state, and federal legislative initiatives is our commitment to amplifying the voices of Colorado’s CPAs.
We focus our efforts on achieving the best possible legislative outcomes for CPAs and those they serve, as well as keeping you informed and engaged throughout the process. In addition, we represent you and your interests before the various boards and commissions that set regulatory standards for CPAs in Colorado.
The Colorado General Assembly is the state’s legislative body. The most recent legislative session began on January 10, 2018 and adjourned on May 9, 2018. The Colorado Legislative Council is the non-partisan research arm of the General Assembly. It provides fiscal analysis and research on legislation and budgetary issues before the General Assembly.
The Colorado State Auditor provides financial oversight of state programs as well as the use of state and federal funding.

The State Board of Accountancy regulates CPAs in Colorado and handles issues regarding their licenses.
Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies
DORA oversees state regulation of businesses across Colorado, including the accounting profession.
National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA)
NASBA is the national representative of the 55 state boards of accountancy across the U.S. NASBA assists state boards in preparing for and understanding legislative & regulatory changes that may impact their operations.
